JAKARTA, September 7, 2024. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) has successfully won a prestigious award at the 2023 Annual Report Award (ARA). Following its first-place victory in the BUMD Financial category at ARA 2022, the largest regional development bank in East Java was once again named the winner in the same category at the ARA 2023 Awarding Night held at the Indonesia Stock Exchange Building in Jakarta on Monday evening (10/8). Carrying the theme "Internalizing Integrated Mindset Toward Sustainable Long Term Value Creation," the award was received by Independent Commissioner of bankjatim Sumaryono and President Director Busrul Iman.
Busrul expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the award granted to the company, stating that the recognition highlights bankjatim’s successful implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG). According to him, strengthening GCG practices is not just an obligation but a necessity for public companies. Therefore, bankjatim’s management is committed to upholding GCG principles—transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness—as the foundation for the company’s operations.
Busrul added that by applying sound governance, the company can ensure smooth operations, build stakeholder trust, and comply with regulatory standards. “We thank the ARA 2023 organizers for evaluating and appreciating our GCG practices. This award will serve as motivation for all Jatimers to strengthen our commitment to GCG implementation going forward, with the goal of making bankjatim the number one regional development bank (BPD) in Indonesia,” he said.
Bankjatim’s consistent GCG application is reflected in its continuously growing financial performance. As of the first half of 2024, the bank has disbursed loans totaling IDR 58.07 trillion, growing 18 percent year-on-year (YoY). This growth demonstrates the company's ability to maintain expansion despite interest rate hikes and liquidity challenges. Additionally, bankjatim’s Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) stood at 71.6 percent, indicating a healthy liquidity position.
This ARA 2023 achievement adds to the long list of accolades bankjatim has received for its annual reporting. In 2023, bankjatim earned a gold rank in The Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) hosted by the National Center for Corporate Reporting (NCCR). In the same year, the bank also received an A rating for its 2021 Sustainability Report from the Foundation for International Human Rights Reporting Standards (FIHRRST). “With this ARA recognition, we hope to further support bankjatim’s performance and improve the quality of governance and information for our stakeholders,” said Busrul.
The 2023 ARA was participated in by 167 companies, of which only 27 were selected as award winners, including bankjatim. Professor Mardiasmo, Chairman of the National Committee on Governance Policy and Head of the ARA 2023 Steering Committee, explained that ARA aims to promote corporate governance principles in Indonesian companies through transparency and governance practices—including sustainability—by evaluating annual and sustainability reports and providing feedback to all ARA participants.
