Fighting Poverty, Bank Jatim Renovates Uninhabitable Houses in Banyuwangi Regency

BANYUWANGI, June 7, 2024 – PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) continues to support the government's initiatives to alleviate poverty. This time, the support was realized through the distribution of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance to the Banyuwangi Regency Government in the form of renovations for uninhabitable homes (RTLH). The symbolic handover took place at Pendopo Sabha Swagata Blambangan, where bankjatim President Director Busrul Iman presented the donation to Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani on Friday (June 7). Also present was bankjatim Director of Finance, Treasury & Global Services, Edi Masrianto.
Busrul explained that the CSR initiative is expected to improve the quality of housing for residents whose homes are currently unfit for living—transforming them into safe and healthy homes. This effort is aimed at accelerating poverty alleviation and improving the standard of living for the people of Banyuwangi.

According to Busrul, by renovating uninhabitable houses, beneficiaries will gain access to safe, structurally sound homes that meet building standards. He emphasized that a house is not just a shelter, but also a place for family interaction and social well-being.
“With this assistance, low-income families can enjoy healthier, more prosperous lives with their loved ones,” he added.
In addition to supporting poverty reduction, Busrul said the housing renovation initiative also serves as a form of appreciation from the company to the people of Banyuwangi for their trust and support in bankjatim’s business development.
“This CSR contribution is a tangible result of the collaboration between the Banyuwangi Regency Government and bankjatim. We hope this synergy continues to grow stronger, leading to greater progress for the Banyuwangi community,” he said.
Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani expressed her sincere gratitude for the CSR support from bankjatim.
“The goal of the housing renovation program is to provide homes that meet Indonesia’s national housing standards. We hope that after moving into these renovated homes, residents can improve their quality of life and health,” she emphasized.
Ipuk also noted that addressing the issue of uninhabitable housing cannot be achieved by the government alone. All parties must work hand-in-hand to achieve greater welfare for those in need.
