SURABAYA, June 13, 2024 – PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) has officially entered into a strategic partnership with PT Nusantara Sebelas Medika (Nusamed) concerning financial and healthcare service solutions. This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday (June 13) at the Semeru Room, bankjatim headquarters. The MoU was signed by bankjatim’s SEVP of Corporate, Syndication, and Institutional Affairs Koerniawan Prijambodo and Nusamed Director Sunardjo. The signing was also witnessed by bankjatim’s Director of Finance, Treasury & Global Services Edi Masrianto, and Director of Micro, Retail, and Medium Business R. Arief Wicaksono.
Edi stated that this synergy is expected to provide comprehensive banking solutions for hospitals. The potential collaboration between bankjatim and Nusamed is highly promising.
“For example, there is an opportunity to optimize services and manage revenue from healthcare services through integration with bankjatim's systems via smart hospital services. Co-branding patient cards with bankjatim ATM cards is also a possibility,” he explained.
Other areas for collaboration include increasing third-party funds, particularly from current and time deposits, as well as providing multipurpose and consumer loans to Nusamed employees. With Nusamed having a workforce of around 1,000 employees, this represents a significant opportunity for bankjatim.
“We can also collaborate in providing healthcare services to bankjatim employees. We have a large workforce spread across many regions. Through this MoU, bankjatim staff will gain easier access to healthcare services at Nusamed-managed hospitals,” he added.
Currently, Nusamed manages four hospitals: RS Lavalette in Malang, RS Wonolangan in Probolinggo, RS Elizabeth in Situbondo, and RS Djatiroto in Lumajang. They also operate several primary clinics. Given Nusamed’s extensive network in East Java, Edi noted that there is strong potential for increasing fee-based income through the application of QRIS payments at cashier counters using bankjatim’s e-channel. The use of QRIS is expected to speed up payment processes and reduce queues at payment counters.
This initiative aligns with bankjatim’s strategy to shift electronic transactions to digital platforms to support business growth—especially in the hospital ecosystem, including public hospitals, community health centers (puskesmas), and private hospitals.
Edi emphasized that bankjatim aims to collaborate with various hospitals across East Java to create financial services that benefit not just the patients, but also the entire hospital ecosystem—including medical personnel and administrative staff.
To support this, bankjatim has developed various innovations tailored for hospitals to build a sustainable ecosystem. These include solutions for parking management, hospital canteens and cooperatives, patient registration and discharge, payroll for hospital staff, financial management, and financing for hospitals and their employees.
“With these services, hospital operations can become more efficient, and bankjatim’s business growth can be accelerated—creating mutual benefits,” he said.
On the same occasion, Sunardjo expressed his gratitude to bankjatim for the partnership. With this MoU, he hopes to improve patient services and generate positive outcomes for both parties. Especially as Nusamed is now part of the Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) group under a policy by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).
“We believe this collaboration will positively impact the business development of bankjatim, and enhance healthcare services and the hospital industry within Nusamed. We hope this cooperation will mutually benefit both institutions—Nusamed and bankjatim—in terms of healthcare services and the utilization of each other's offerings,” he concluded.
