Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle, Bank Jatim to Host JConnect Run 2024

SURABAYA, June 9, 2024 – As part of its commitment to support economic and tourism growth in East Java and promote a healthy lifestyle among the public, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur (bankjatim) will hold a major sports event titled Bank Jatim JConnect Run 2024 on September 15, 2024, at the Grahadi State Building, Surabaya.

As a kickoff to the JConnect Run 2024, bankjatim held a press conference combined with a social run on Sunday (June 9) at the bank’s Head Office. The press conference was attended by bankjatim Director of Operations, Arif Suhirman, and Director of Risk Management, Eko Susetyono, who also joined the social run.

Arif explained that running is a sport with a large fanbase across various segments and age groups. This popularity inspired bankjatim to organize JConnect Run 2024 to promote healthy living among the people of East Java and even across Indonesia. As a regional government-owned enterprise (BUMD), bankjatim is committed to continuously creating both economic value and social value for all stakeholders, especially the community.
“Through the JConnect Run 2024, the company aims to show that the presence of bankjatim extends beyond just Surabaya—it matters to the people of East Java and all of Indonesia,” Arif stated.

He emphasized that JConnect Run 2024 has multiple goals. Besides boosting the economy through tourism by attracting runners from various regions, the event also serves as a platform for bankjatim to promote its digital product, JConnect.
“We want to expand the market for the JConnect app. This event will be a momentum to enhance user experience and measure the level of public awareness and adoption of bankjatim’s digital services,” he explained.

Arif shared that one of the key business drivers for bankjatim is its digital service brand, JConnect, which carries the tagline #SEMUABISADIMANAAJA (Everything’s Possible Anywhere). The usage of JConnect services has grown significantly. In Q1 2024, JConnect Mobile had 677,362 users, a 25.77% YoY increase. Transaction value reached IDR 4.9 trillion, up 66.6% YoY. Meanwhile, JConnect QRIS BJTM recorded 151,404 users (up 113.74% YoY) with a transaction value of IDR 126.43 billion, showing a 173.84% YoY growth.

Arif added that after the event, bankjatim will further improve product quality and services to ensure users enjoy an even better experience with the JConnect app. “Bank Jatim JConnect Run 2024 will play a role in fulfilling our mission to contribute to East Java’s economic growth while also strengthening our corporate branding,” he affirmed.

The event will feature three race categories: 5K, 10K, and 21K (Half Marathon), with the Start-Finish line set at Grahadi State Building. To reward its customers, bankjatim is offering free race slots for those who open a new account or top up a fresh fund of IDR 2.5 million, held for 6 months (limited slots available).

Additionally, customers and potential customers who register and pay through the JConnect app will get a special 63% discount on the race fee (limited slots available).

For participants who are not yet bankjatim customers or JConnect users, registration is still open at the normal price—but this also becomes an opportunity for them to join and become part of the bankjatim community.

To appreciate all participants, bankjatim has prepared hundreds of millions of rupiah in prizes for winners in each race category. Prizes will be awarded to the Top 5 finishers in each of the following categories:

  • 5K National (Male & Female)

  • 10K National (Male & Female)

  • Half Marathon National (Male & Female)

  • Half Marathon Master for runners aged 40+ (Male & Female)

The event will also feature a Culinary Festival at the race center, open to all participants. This festival will be joined by bankjatim-supported MSMEs in various trade and Food & Beverage sectors, with payments made using the JConnect App and QRIS.
