BANGKALAN, September 30, 2024 – The East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jatim) has officially launched another fleet of Trans Jatim buses. This time, 15 buses operating on Corridor V with the route Terminal Bangkalan – Terminal Purabaya, each with a capacity of 30 passengers, were inaugurated on Monday (30/9). The launch event, held at the Bangkalan Regency Hall, was officiated by the Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono, and the Acting Regent of Bangkalan, Arief M. Edie, and was also attended by Bank Jatim’s Director of Operations, Arif Suhirman.

During the event, Arif Suhirman symbolically handed over Simpeda savings books from bankjatim to Trans Jatim bus attendants as part of the effort to provide easier access to banking services. “Bank Jatim continues to strive to synergize with the East Java Provincial Government for the welfare of the people. This includes making services more accessible for both Trans Jatim employees and passengers. For the staff, we facilitate salary payments and loan services,” he explained.

As for Trans Jatim passengers, they don’t need to worry either, as payments can now be made via Bank Jatim’s QRIS. This cashless payment system has become essential for the Department of Transportation (Dishub) because funds are directly credited to accounts in real time, making the process more efficient in terms of time and effort. “In this regard, we have partnered with East Java’s Department of Transportation to provide support for a cashless payment system through QRIS. It’s practical—just open JConnect and scan the bankjatim QRIS barcode. We will continue to support the programs initiated by the East Java Provincial Government to make things easier for both Trans Jatim passengers and bus operators,” Arif added.

JConnect QRIS has shown strong performance. As of August 2024, bankjatim’s QRIS system has collaborated with 174,185 merchants, marking a 72.73% year-on-year (YoY) increase. The total transaction value reached IDR 130.52 billion, reflecting a 204.87% YoY growth.

Meanwhile, Adhy stated that the launch of Trans Jatim is a response to the urgent need for equitable public transportation services across East Java. According to him, the Trans Jatim bus service is a solution to the mobility needs of the public and a catalyst for economic growth. Currently, Trans Jatim services are already benefiting the community across corridors I, II, III, and IV—with the latest addition being Corridor V, serving the Terminal Purabaya – Terminal Bangkalan route.

"Finally, Corridor V is now operational ahead of schedule to meet the mobility needs of the people in Madura who frequently travel between Surabaya and Bangkalan for work, while also stimulating new economic opportunities for the community," said Adhy.

The expansion of Trans Jatim Corridor V, named "Cakraningrat," is a tangible manifestation of East Java’s fourth Nawa Bhakti Satya mission, known as Jatim Akses (East Java Access). Evidently, this smart bus service, now entering its second year, has already served 4.3 million East Java residents, significantly improving public mobility.
